The Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership.
TTIP is a EU/USA trade agreement that requires state services to be open to competition from American multinationals where privatisation is already established.
However where there is an existing state monopoly, foreign companies cannot sue the government in question for unfair competition.
That is the important point
The UK Health and Social Care Act opened the UK system to TTIP because it introduced a private market in health provision in England.
And as Andy Burnham Labour’s Shadow Health clown has plans to include NHS Scotland within the remit of England and Wales to create a single NHS . that of course makes a nonsense of “Labour shadow health secretary Andy Burnham has vowed that a Labour government would swiftly repeal the privatising Health and Social Care Act to stop outsourcing firms "devouring" NHS England.”
Simply put Burnham will as he advocates bring the Scottish NHS into the UK wide NHS,in doing so he brings it into the remit of The Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership.
And once there it can not be reversed or the US companies will sue the governments backside off .
If the Scottish NHS STAYS within the devolved powers of The Scottish Parliament it can remain true to it’s core values and pricipals
Which are
· that it meet the needs of everyone
· that it be free at the point of delivery
· that it be based on clinical need, not ability to pay
These three principles have guided the development of the NHS over more than 60 years and remain at its core.”
And Katy Clark is writing to David Cameron??
Burnham is the one who seeks to destroy the Scottish NHS
Maybe she should be looking more to Labour’s own core values and principals
Couple of points
NHS Scotland spend about 8-9 percent of the English NHS and works quite effeciently, Cut the Barnet formula as Labour seeks and it don't bode well
The US will make even more than it does at present under TTIP , more goes to the US than comes to the UK most on which goes to London
It's about time to stop the likes of Burnham for once and for all
